Large Victorian / Edwardian Style Cast Iron / Fire / Woodburner Surround

LARGE VICTORIAN / EDWARDIAN STYLE CAST IRON / FIRE / WOODBURNER SURROUND. For sale is this beautiful, large cast iron fire surround in a Victorian / Edwardian style.

This is a beautiful recreation of a classic period piece using traditional materials and methods. It is a stunning yet simple piece made to original specifications by the quality maker Stovax. It is perfect to go over an existing chimney breast opening or over an insert. It has been professionally cleaned, protective coated and polished to bring out its character.

Made of solid, very heavyweight cast iron, it is in excellent condition. It is finished in a style typical of the late Victorian period and will add a touch of class and quality to any room. There are mounting lugs beneath the shelf and above the feet for discreet and simple installation. Width at mantle shelf 108cm.

Depth of mantle shelf 16.5cm. Rear projection 0cm (fits well against a flat wall). Opening 68.5cm wide x 81.5cm high. Fully refurbished by Duncan Reddy Manchester, a Specialist in Architectural salvage for over 30 years. The surround has been finished in the traditional black grate polish which gives it a gunmetal appearance (Grey) and highlights the ornamentation of the cast iron.

(please note: there is sometimes a green reflection in the photos from the grass). With securing lugs either side of the fire surround, it makes it easy to fit by simply screwing it to the wall. We've stripped, and wire brushed the surround, before finishing it in the traditional black grate polish, the final result looks superb.

It is a wonderful example of British architectural heritage which would typically have taken pride of place in a downstairs room or large bedroom.
