RESTORED ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN C1905 TILED CAST IRON FIRE INSERT. Exquisite, for sale is this beautiful, restored antique cast iron fireplace, from a Manchester period property from the late Edwardian period. Carrying authentic foundry marks, it was cast between 1888- 1915 by the Carron Foundry.

The tiles don't have a makers mark, but are about C1905. It is a wonderful example of British architectural heritage which would typically have taken pride of place in a downstairs room or large bedroom.

Generously proportioned, it is made of solid cast iron with two runs of tube line tiles, in lovely condition. There is a repair on one of the tiles (almost invisible to see from the front) but overall they've aged beautifully. The ironwork is rich with floral detail and a beautiful floral designed canopy.

Similar decorative ironwork continues around the tiles. During restoration we retained the original back and replaced the fire stone and grate. The bars, ash pan cover are original. The final result looks superb. We have finished the item with black grate polish which gives it a gunmetal appearance and highlights the ornamentation of the cast iron. All restoration has been undertaken by Duncan Reddy Manchester, a Specialist in Architectural salvage for over 35 years. We have replaced the fire stone and grate in the cast iron back, so its possible to have many more years of open fires. We will securely courier the item to most parts of the U.
