For sale is this early 19th century bas relief fire plate. It is made from cast iron and still retains black paint. It was obviously made for a smallish fireplace.
From the biblical subject matter and style, I would estimate it was made some time between 1800 and 1840. I think is shows the biblical story of Rebekah and Eliezer at the well. It measures about 10 3/4 inches by 10 3/4 inches.
It is in structurally good condition with rust corrosion and paint loss throughout. It would make a nice stand-alone panel.
