For sale, a former London, Brighton & South Coast Railway cast-iron rail chair dated 1910, attractively painted in green with yellow lettering. I had no personal involvement in the painting of this but unless I'm much mistaken it seems to me that the colours chosen closely resemble the Southern Railway livery of Malachite Green with yellow lettering used by the Southern Railway in the thirties / fourties. And as such would've been carried at the time by some ex-LBSCR locomotives such as the famous Terrier class.
So not only is this an attractive railway-themed item for a garden, it is something that will appeal to those with an interest in the LB&SCR particularly. The item is in good condition; there are a few marks to the paint around the actual rail seat part where a shoebrush had been glued in the gap previously but these are hardly noticeable. Item is collection-only from Hereford as this is far too heavy to post approx 20kg! Dimensions: 15 x 7 x 7 inches approx.
