Antique Edwardian Iron fire surround/Fireplace - Fully Restored. Large Edwardian cast iron fireplace mantel surround, ideal for a stove or woodburner. This is not a reproduction, this is an original antique piece C1908. The quality of the casting is second to none. With no rear projection, it is perfect to go over an existing chimney breast opening or against a flat wall. Fully refurbished by Duncan Reddy Manchester a Specialist in Architectural salvage for over 30 years. The surround has been finished in the traditional black grate polish which gives it a gunmetal appearance and highlights the ornamentation of the cast iron. With two securing lugs either side of the fire surround, it makes it easy to fit by simply screwing it to the wall.
In the restoration we have managed to retain the original mantle shelf. We've stripped, and wire brushed the surround, before finishing it in the traditional black grate polish, the final result looks superb.
It is a wonderful example of British architectural heritage which would typically have taken pride of place in a downstairs room or large bedroom. Generously proportioned, it is made of solid cast iron in lovely condition. I can organise a courier if you like (I need your post code for a quote) or help load it in the back of your vehicle if you prefer to collect in person. Shelf 40.5 inches x 7 inches. Body 36 inches (wide, at the bottom). Opening perfect for a wood burner/ stove. 28.5 inches wide x 32inches high.
